Planning Department Overview

The Planning Department is responsible for administering the long range planning efforts within the community, administration of the zoning ordinance, sign ordinance and other land development regulations; and acts as the technical staff to the planning commission, zoning board of appeals and the board of trustees. The Planning Department is available to assist residents, developers, new businesses, contractors and other agencies to ensure proposals and plans meet Township requirements.

Support provided to the Planning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals and the Board of Trustees

Most plans for development must be reviewed and approved by one of the Township's elected or appointed boards. The Planning Department serves as professional staff to provide necessary documentation for the respective boards and commissions to make their decisions.

The Planning Department reviews development plans for compliance with Township ordinances, reviews construction plans for compliance with approved site plans and conducts site inspections during the development process, as well as on an ongoing basis, to ensure compliance with plan approvals.
