Curbside Yard Waste
Curbside pickup of yard waste begins the first full week
of April and ends the third week of December.

Plastic grocery bags are now accepted in the Recycle
Bin. Stuff them inside of each other and place them
in recycle bin securely so that they don’t blow away.

The Township has contracted with Allied Waste Services to collect
solid waste. The contract includes the collection of rubbish,
recyclables and compostables. The price is $14.00 per month and is
identified on your water bill. If you have any problems with
your collection please call Allied Waste Services at (800) 878-4626.
Collection of rubbish, recyclables and compostables for the
Township is Monday through Thursday. Friday is open for delayed
holiday week’s collection. Place your trash, composting and recycling
at the curbside no earlier than 6:00 PM the day before your particular
collection day or by 7:00 AM on your collection day.

If your collection day falls on or after the holiday your pickup
will be delayed by one day. Holidays are:

County Hosts Household Hazardous Waste Collection
Wayne County's Department of Public Services has scheduled their
next two Household Hazardous Waste Collections for County residents.
The collection is designed to accept unwanted household chemicals for
proper disposal and electronics (i.e. computer monitors, printers,
scanners, keyboards, cell phones, fax machines, and TVs) for recycling
from residents.
The collections are scheduled for Saturday, June 26, 2010
from 8:00am to 2:00pm at Huron High School, 32044 Huron River
Drive, New Boston; and Saturday, August 28, 2010 from 8:00am
to 2:00pm at the Westland Shopping Center, Warren Road and
Nankin Boulevard. All household hazardous waste items will be accepted
at no cost from Wayne County residents only.
Items that will be accepted include household paints, stains,
floor-care items, furniture polish, bathroom cleaners, lawn and garden
chemicals, antifreeze, fluorescent and compact fluorescent light
bulbs, old computers and TVs. Pharmaceutical waste (non-controlled
substances only) and medical sharps in puncture-proof
containers will also be accepted. All waste must be from residential
