Twp logoOn April 8, 2019 at 10am, Northville Township was made aware of a sanitary sewer overflow. Sanitary Sewer Overflows (SSOs) are a release of untreated or partially treated sewage from a municipal sanitary sewer.

This sewer back-up was caused by a blockage and overflow entered a natural drainage course on the west side of Sheldon a quarter of a mile south of Six Mile, entering the Middle Rouge River.

Crews were immediately displaced to the location and found sanitary sewage flowing out of the top of a sanitary sewer manhole at the right of way on Sheldon Road, a quarter of a mile south of Six Mile. Equipment was utilized to remove the blockage and the sanitary sewer system was returned to normal by 12:30pm.

Private property was not impacted by this SSO. Notification has been sent to the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, Wayne County Health Department and Plymouth Township.
