Police officers are often first responders when a family encounters a tragic loss. But their job doesn’t always end there, as it’s essential to understand the impact to families experiencing grief within the community.

The New Hope organization offers a variety of ongoing loss-specific peer support groups to help individuals in grief journey. Our officers participate in the annual kid’s grief camp, designed to help children connect with other children to know they are not alone in their grief, achieve opportunities to learn about the reactions and emotions associated with grief, the significance of developing healthy coping skills, and ways to grow through the grief journey by sharing their stories.
