Northville Township’s Millennium Park will soon be home to Unity Skatepark, a new recreation amenity for the community to enjoy.
This grassroots project evolved after Township resident Dominic Duhn’s tragic death from a hit-and-run while skateboarding. The Dominic Duhn Foundation, Inc., is contributing the funds it raised to the Township by honoring him through the development and construction of this outdoor skatepark.
Spohn Ranch, Inc., which handles the design and construction, will seek public input on the project. Watch social media for invitations to weigh in on the design to be a part of this important addition to our community.
The size of the skatepark will be about 10,000 square feet. Projected costs are $600,000. Northville Township has committed $150,000 to it, along with $83,327 it receives from the Wayne County Parks millage allocation. The City of Northville has committed $8,123 from its Wayne County Parks millage allocation. The balance of $359,000 was raised through various supporters and fundraisers hosted by the Duhn family and a 501(c)(3) Foundation.
Its completion is expected in spring 2024.
