Fire Department Overview
The Northville Township Fire Department is an all-hazard fire department that provides fire protection, rescue and Advanced Life Support (ALS) emergency medical treatment and transport to the residents, businesses and visitors of Northville Township. The department operates from a headquarters station located at 45745 W. Six Mile Road, between Sheldon and Beck Road.
Department personnel are assigned to one of three shifts that work 24 hours at a time. Each shift is staffed with eleven career Firefighter/Paramedics. The department provides full-time staffing 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Every frontline vehicle is licensed and equipped to provide Advanced Life Support which is the highest level of pre-hospital medical care. Last year, The Northville Township Fire Department responded to over 3,500 incidents.
In addition to emergency response, personnel focus on emergency preparedness by conducting continuous training sessions on all duties that are expected to be performed as a Firefighter/Paramedic with Northville Township. We also provide a variety of fire and life safety services including fire and life safety inspections, fire cause and origin investigations, public education and outreach, child safety seat inspections, and community first aid and CPR.
The Northville Township Fire Department operates under the direction of Director of Public Safety Todd Mutchler and Fire Chief Brent D. Siegel. The department is comprised of two divisions: Operations and Administration. The Administrative Division works Monday-Friday and includes the Fire Chief, Training Coordinator, Fire Marshal and EMS Coordinator. The Operations Division works 24 hour shifts from 8 am to 8 am the following day. The Operations Division is comprised of three (3) Battalion Chiefs, three (3) Captains, three (3) Lieutenants and eighteen (24) firefighters. The Operations Division is further broken down into three (3) shifts (A, B and C) that operate with eleven (11) personnel per day.
