The Northville Township Assessing Department administers the property tax system in accordance with all statutory regulations and rules. Our goal is to perform our duties professionally, equitably and accurately. The Assessing Department assesses all real and personal property located in the Township and maintains the property assessment record cards on all residential, commercial and industrial properties.
The Assessing Department is responsible for estimating the market value of your property for tax purposes. This is accomplished through discovering, identifying and classifying all taxable property in the Township. This is done by gathering and analyzing all pertinent information. This process involves reviewing the physical description of the property and/or improvement, real estate sales, construction costs, rental incomes, operating expenses, interest rates, and any other factors that may affect value.
Tax bills are determined by multiplying your taxable value (not assessed value) by the local millage rates and are affected by millage increases approved by the voters and the decisions of various taxing jurisdictions.
Taxpayers may meet with employees of the Assessing Department in person during normal business hours – no appointment is required; however, one can be requested.
To help maintain accurate taxpayer of record information, please notify the Assessing Department of any ownership change, name or address change. Please fill out the proper form to ensure our records are updated.
