Kindergarten Fire and Life Safety Education
Since 2017, the Northville Township Fire Department has partnered with Northville Public Schools to deliver fire and life safety education to every kindergarten class across the district. This program covers four basic fire safety messages including 1) Firefighters are Community Helpers, 2) Stay Away from Hot Things, 3) Smoke Alarms are Important, and 4) Get Outside, Stay Outside.
Kindergarten teachers deliver these life safety messages and we visit each school to reinforce the importance to the students. Today's fires are different than those 20 and 30 years ago. Modern fire science requires modern fire education.
A key component of this program is reinforcing the messages learned in school into our students homes. We rely on parents and guardians to protect our families and our Extra Credit packet helps to highlight those important topics to practice with your students. Take some time to review the material and to work through the messages with your student. You never know when that information can save a life. Fire safety is everyones job!
