Apartment, condominium and multi-family dwellings create unique challenges for the residents, the management company and the fire department. Our goal is to provide you, your residents, staff, management and visitors with important life safety tips to keep our community safe. Fires that take place in multi-family units are challenging as they impact a large number of residents. While single family house fire can be devastating to the people living in that home, a fire in an adjoining apartment can impact 4, 8, 16 or more families at once.

Understanding the risk and how fires start can help reduce the impact in your community. Most fires are caused by easily avoidable human error and therefore, are often preventable. Cooking, candles, space heaters and smoking are some of the most common causes of fires. Please see the attached tips and guides to help you prevent a fire on your property, in your building and in your unit. If you have any questions, please contact the Fire Prevention Division at (248) 348-5807.
