The Sign Ordinance establishes standards regarding size, placement, construction materials and illumination for all types of signs within the township. The intent of the standards is to provide advertising opportunities while at the same time creating signs that are consistent and harmonious with their surroundings. Sign regulations are defined by corridors located along all roadways in the Township.

A platted subdivision and site condominium development are two different statutory methods of reaching essentially the same result of dividing real estate into separate residential building sites. Both methods have the same dimensional and site development requirements, as well as follow the same approval process by the township board of trustees. Platted subdivisions have public streets whereas site condominiums have private roads (Wayne County does not permit site condominiums to be developed with public roads).

The zoning ordinance consists of two parts: a map and text. The map identifies how the community is divided into different zones or districts (such as residential, commercial or industrial) and identifies the boundaries for each. The text serves two important functions: it contains regulations regarding the use of land and sets forth a series of procedures for administering and applying the zoning ordinance. The regulations are based on the goals and policies of the master plan. Zoning regulations are continuously evolving and as a result, standards are reviewed and amended as needed to respond to emerging development trends and changes.
