In order to minimize the yearly increases in our water rates, the Township and Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA) have reviewed the factors that affect our water usage. Together, they influence water rates (cost of water) for our residents. One of these is the distance from the water treatment plant and the change in elevation from the water treatment plant to a resident's home. Both of these significantly contribute to our water rates. Unfortunately, these factors cannot be modified.

Use patterns, or more specifically, peak hour usage is another major component in determining our water rates. Fortunately, we can influence this area. By stabilizing our usage and removing the peaks we experience in the summer months, we can reduce the increase in our water rates. For this reason, the Township has revised its ordinances to restrict lawn watering during the peak hours.

ONLY water 12 am to 6 am on odd/even dates with an automatic irrigation system.  Odd numbered addresses water on odd calendar dates and even number addresses can water on even calendar dates.

The Township’s lawn watering regulations applies to those irrigating (most of residential & commercial users) using the public water system. It does not apply to those who irrigate from wells or ponds.  This does not apply to watering with a hose from your hose bib or spigot.
