Residents have three options for disposing of Household Hazardous Waste:

HHW Center is now open!

Free to Northville Township and City Residents

Operated by Washtenaw County, in collaboration with GFL Environmental, the facility is located in the Arbor Hills complex at:

10843 W. Five Mile Road, Northville, MI 48168 (just west of Napier Road in Salem Township)

This is a drop-off, appointment-only facility. Appointments may be made Tuesday-Thursday, through the website: HomeToxicsCenter.org.

For list of acceptable materials, use the website: HomeToxicsCenter.org.

The HHW is open to residential users only. No businesses, organizations or government entities are allowed.

The HHW Center is one of the improvements Arbor Hills Landfill in Salem Township agreed to make in a lawsuit settlement with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE). This facility will be available for free for 10 years (through 2033) to residents of Northville Township and the City of Northville.

Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Service Is Available - Voucher Program

An alternative remains available. Northville Township residents, as always, can take their household hazardous waste items to Environmental Recycling Group (ERG) in Livonia weekdays for disposal and recycling. This service is provided by using a voucher that can be obtained by either calling Environmental Services Division at (734) 326-5708 or ESGHelp@waynecounty.com

The company is located at 13040 Merriman Road, Suite 200. Hours are Monday-Friday, 9 am-5 pm.

The drop-off service has a 100-pound limit. For more information, call (734) 437-9650.

To discard latex paint on your regular trash day, you must follow these steps: Simply add some kitty litter to the leftover paint, stir with a paint stir stick and store uncovered in a safe place. After several days, the paint will harden. Put the cans of hardened paint inside a trash bag along with the lids.

Dispose of Old Medications

Bring your unwanted medication - no liquids, needles or injectable medication - to the secure drop box in the lobby at the Northville Township Police Department at 41600 Six Mile Road.
